Karis L. North

Karis L. North is an experienced litigator, with a focus on complex business litigation and an expertise in environmental law and policy. Her practice encompasses counseling and advocacy on behalf of business and corporate clients; municipal governments; and non-profit organizations. These matters include general business issues, corporate transactions, real estate transfers, compliance audits, and representation in enforcement proceedings. Ms. North has a proven track record of partnering with clients and counsel to achieve successful outcomes in all stages of state and federal litigation, administrative proceedings, and transactions. She engages in creative problem solving to resolve conflicts, and has achieved favorable outcomes for her clients in many settings, including successful negotiation of settlement agreements, and, in the environmental context, successful negotiations of penalties.

She is a graduate of Cornell University, and Vermont Law School, where she was the Managing Editor of The Vermont Law Review. Currently, Ms. North is a member of the Board of Directors of the Vermont Law School Alumni Association, and is active in the Cornell University Alumni Network. She is also an alumna of the Switzer Environmental Fellowship program. She is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Massachusetts and in the state of Maryland.
